Vortex Structure Topology Analysis of the Transonic Rotor 37 Based on Large Eddy Simulation

Highly three–dimensional and complex flow structures are closely related to the aerodynamic losses occurring in transonic axial–flow compressor. The large eddy simulation (LES) approach was adopted study performance of NASA rotor 37 for cases at design, near stall (NS), choke (NC) rate. internal vortex topology analyzed by Q–criterion method, omega (Ω) identification Liutex method. It observed that method vulnerable being influenced with high–shear deformation rate, especially end–wall regions. Ω recognize structure a higher precision than Meanwhile, showed good identification, corresponding contribution components analyzed. results show high–vortex fields around separation line reattachment had high x–axis, tip clearance vortices presented component y–axis, suction side corner possessed y– z–axes.
